'The Girl Who Is Not Me with the Boy Who Is Not You', by Shae Krispinsky

And she’s never held a single
poetic thought in mind, never
turned to language as romance
or salve, but she was pretty, her
parents wealthy, and it’s always easy
being the smarter of a pair—
wit was something for black box,
off-off-Broadway, boring. And wasn’t
it relieving, not having to be clever?
And wasn’t it remarkable, a proposal
atop the Eiffel Tower? And wasn’t
it worth it to never have to think
about iambic pentameter again?
