Autumn, with a birth certificate
in its pocket.
Pale air and withered light
perishes in the half-dark of dozing
walls.
A saffron phantom of the sun strolls
through blue galleries; it grows into
the dimmed octaves
of a summer fading toward oblivion.
It goes out suddenly, leaving only
the prints
of its fingers on white shoulders.
(Autumn dream)
Between the edges of breath
as I walk a line woven from the thin
fibres of air,
in the hazy eye of silence that falls
like a heavy stone to the bottom
of the murky river of time,
in the dark walnut of the brain
on the other side of visions frozen
in the hard mineral of beginnings
and endings — I dream mechanically
my neurological dream.
